Meet Dan Herbert, Senior Manager, SEO and Paid Search

Dan Herbert, Senior Manager, SEO and Paid Search for MJ2 Marketing

Dan’s Professional Life

I began my journey in Digital Marketing way back in 2007. I accepted a job in Search Engine Marketing (Paid Search), despite knowing nothing about it, and moved nine hours away to Norfolk/Virginia Beach. My passion for technology and desire to be more involved in the digital space fueled my drive. Since then, Paid Search has been the backbone of my career, but I have expanded my skill set to include SEO, social media, HTML, Ecommerce, email marketing, and analytics.

Dan’s Personal Life

As a Xennial, I appreciate having grown up in an analog world and then transitioning into the digital age. This unique experience gives me an advantage in the Digital Marketing space. I grew up and went to college in Canton, Ohio, then moved to Virginia Beach for 10 years. In 2017, I moved back to Columbus. While I love city life, I prefer living in the suburbs. I have two wonderful kids who keep me young and busy.

Q&A with Dan

  • What is your favorite thing about working at MJ2? – I love that we have a small client list that allows us to focus our full attention on each one. We have the flexibility to pivot when needed, and I enjoy having my hands in a bit of everything here at MJ2. The nature of agency life genuinely excites me.
  • What are you currently reading/watching/listening to? I listen to podcasts during my 40-minute commute, but mostly, I’m a sports radio junkie. When it comes to music, I’m a Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam kind of guy.
  • What is your favorite restaurant in Columbus? – Is “all of them” an option? I’m a big fan of food and there’s not much I won’t try.
  • What is your favorite relaxing activity? – Sleeping! With two very active kids at home, if I sit down to relax, it’s usually the end of my day. If I get the chance, I enjoy watching a ball game on TV with a beverage in hand.
  • How do you take your coffee (or tea)? – I seem to be the renegade of the bunch—no coffee for me, just sweet tea, please… and the occasional Chai Tea Latte. (That isn’t coffee, right?)
