Honing Your Creative Strategy

Thumb-Stopping Content for Top Performance

There are all different types of marketing, but in this digital era, it is your content across the digital and social platforms that can help you stand out from the crowd. While written content will always play a role in your digital marketing, it is essential to embrace all forms of content – and particularly visual content – to get the biggest bang for your marketing buck.

So how do you get started on developing your creative strategy? A few simple steps, and you will be on your way.

Clearly define your goals

Before diving into action, take some time to write down what your main goals are. Posting a powerful image or a funny GIF will only get you so far if you don’t know what you are trying to achieve.

Identify your KPIs

Once you know what you are trying to achieve, you need to determine how you will measure success? For example, if your goal is to increase the number of people who visit your website for a specific purpose – such as booking an appointment – some of your KPIs might be the overall reach of your social posts, the number of impressions and, most importantly, the number of conversions.

Determine your messaging + platforms

It’s time to decide what you are going to say and how you want to say it. This also includes deciding what the content will look like, and where it will appear. Is your audience on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn? Wherever they are, that is where you need to be.

Create a Budget

Determine how much organic marketing v. paid marketing you will need to do to meet your goals. The fact is that no matter how amazing your content is, the ranking algorithms used by all of the major social platforms limits your organic posts to being seen by only a small percentage of your followers. Paid ads or boosting your content allows you to target your message to specific new audiences who are likely to be interested.

Get Creative

You already know that the content that you produce on your website and social platforms is what helps your audience find you. But these days, thumb-stopping videos, images, and other creative content are not only a “nicety”, their use is a necessity to gain the organic feed and get views.
