Do you spend hours planning your dream vacations on Pinterest? You are not alone. In fact, on a given day there are about 1.5 million places pinned, attributing to more than 750 million destination pins on Pinterest. Last week, the Pinterest team took the first steps in helping you turn those dreams into a reality with the introduction of Place Pins.
According to Pinterest’s official blog, “Place Pins were designed to combine the beautiful imagery of a travel magazine with the utility of a map online so you can share it with friends. You can access them from anywhere on your Android device or iPhone, too, which means you can find new places on the go and even get directions!”
The new addition to one of our favorite platforms is easy to use. Simply create a regular board and select “add a map.” Are you planning a trip with a large group? No problem. You have the ability to collaborate on the board with your friends.
For some added flair, Pinterest worked with some of the best names in travel to provide further pinspiration. You can follow boards including:
- East Coast Beach Crawl from the Travel Channel
- The World’s Best Festivals from Fest300
- Great American BBQ from Andrew Zimmern
- The Quirky Traveller from Zoe Dawes of The Quirky Traveller
Be forewarned, these boards will inspire you to head straight to the airport. The addition of Place Pins is just another step in Pinterest’s efforts to inspire real world action. Are you ready to explore the world?
