Soaring to New Heights: MJ2 Summer Retreat

The team at MJ2 Marketing continually works to ensure we are providing the best service to our clients. To do that, we occasionally need to pause and regroup to be sure our brand is working for our clients’ brands.  This week, we participated in a company retreat to kick off our new branding initiative, get rejuvenated to serve our client’s needs and prepare to “Soar to New Heights” in 2025.   

Our President/CEO, Megan James, and Managing Agency Director, Jennifer Dring, kicked things off with a thank you to everyone for their commitment to MJ2 and our clients. They also spent some time looking at our successes in 2024, our challenges and trends within MJ2 and our client base, focusing on the reality of the business, highs, and lows that are imminent in our digital marketing environment. Finally touching on what the focus of MJ2 is and will always be:  

RELATIONSHIPS STRATEGY  DATA 

With relationships top of mind, we rolled right into our sales strategy and development with our new Business Development Manager, Evan James, along with our Business Consultant, Lisa Moore. They brought the team into their sales processes and procedures. They have implemented standards of practice to serve our clients at the utmost level and provide a smooth transition when onboarding. Business development is at the forefront of our goals heading into 2025 and James is off to a great start! 

Next, our Senior Manager/Creative Account Manager, Ashley Allison, and our Senior Manager/SEO Paid Search expert, Dan Herbert discussed paid media.  Ashley and Dan are experts in this field and educated the team on the intricacies of paid media. There are vast options in paid media, and it is an offering that we are consistently growing to meet the needs of our clients.

Curating beautiful websites is something that we are immensely proud of here at MJ2. Andrew Bash, our Senior Manager of Web Development talked about refining our web development process. We have been busy in 2024 building websites for our clients: Compass Homes, Mettle Services, PDS Planning, Sigital, Hess Realty Group, and Stadion Capital, as well as providing updates to various other client websites. We look forward to building more websites in 2025. 

Let us not forget about photography and video content. Account Manager/Social Media Specialist, Nick Denbow has exceptional knowledge and leads our team in this area of expertise. He spent time teaching us proper photo and video techniques to capture the best content for our clients. 

For lunch, we welcomed Becky Ziegler, who is a seasoned creative entrepreneur, to discuss AI (Artificial Intelligence … or as she calls it, Augmented Imagination) for Agencies. She talked extensively about the emergence of AI and how it should be used in an agency. She reiterated that we should not ignore this modern technology nor be afraid of it. It is good to educate ourselves in this technology so that we can educate our clients.

After lunch, Lisa Moore, our Business Consultant kicked off our new MJ2 brand initiative. She along with additional consultants and internal staff worked tirelessly over the past few months to elevate our brand.  The intention was to update our language, goals as an agency and our values to provide the best service to our clients.  We live by these mantras:

In the rebranding of MJ2, we kept our focus on our clients and their needs. To drive home this point, Account Manager/Content Specialist Ryann Wilson and Lisa Moore performed a few skits for us. Their skits both entertained us and reminded us why we are in the Digital Marketing Business; we strive to provide superior relationships to meet the needs of our clients. We are polished and consistently work to elevate our clients. Our clients are our team and when they win, we win. It was a great wrap-up of our retreat and our rebranding ideation.

To finish the day, we hopped on a Pedal Wagon in the Short North and visited the Short North Pint House and Brew Dog. The Pedal Wagon was a good example of how we work on a day-to-day basis, we had to work together, pedaling uphill to reach our destination. In that case, it was the next pub, but every day it is to work together to meet our clients’ needs, something we do daily here at MJ2 Marketing.
