Digital Graphic Designer
Faith Saxton’s Professional Life
Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted to do something in the creative field. Actually, my very first memory is sitting in my highchair as mom painted ivy on the living room walls and I painted a paper plate!
Coming from a rural area, I wasn’t exposed to the design field or the technology that comes with it until a few years back when I began classes at Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, OH where I received my degree in Digital Media Design, double majoring in both Graphic + Web Design.
After graduating in the Spring of 2019, I headed straight into the design and marketing field when stepping into the real estate industry. Aside from graphic design, I also have a background in areas including photography, videography (including drone-flying, cool right?), social media and marketing. The design field is constantly evolving and I am excited to continue to grow with it! Especially here at MJ2.
Faith Saxton’s Personal Life
When I’m not buried in Illustrator, I’m usually on some sort of new adventure! Whether that’s roadtripping to a state I’ve never been to or just a local restaurant I have yet to try. I love traveling, hiking, anything art/design related, and watching live music (which is a big factor in my move to Columbus – I was always here anyway!) But, of course, I always love going back home to our very small farm whenever I have the chance.
Oh, and you can always find me with my sidekick/best friend in the whole world, Sage, who was adopted from the pound in 2017.
Q&A with Faith Saxton
What is your favorite thing about working at MJ2?
What’s not to love! Everyone has been so helpful and supportive with integrating me into the MJ2 atmosphere. It’s such a fun environment – for example, I went on my first pedal wagon brewery tour and we’ve had a soup cook-off! I can’t wait to see what other adventures the future holds.
What has been your favorite MJ2 project?
There’s been so many already but I really enjoyed the new branding concepts we created for Timeless Skin Solutions at the beginning of 2021. It was fun to design some new ideas to throw into the ring and watch them develop!
If you could trade skills for a day with another MJ2 team member, who would it be and why?
This one is hard because everyone is so knowledgeable in their field! I’d really be happy to trade skills with anyone but I think if I had to choose one person, I’d say Andrew. He has the answers to everything!
How do you stay current in your areas of expertise?
I am constantly watching design videos on YouTube! One of my favorite channels right now is Kel Lauren. Along with this, my entire Instagram, Pinterest and Dribbble feeds are filled with design tips, tricks and trends to help me always stay inspired!
What are your top 3 favorite Columbus based companies?
The Big Room/CD102.5 (Or 92.9 as it’s called now)
Otherworld – I went on the very first weekend that this 32,000 square foot art installation opened a few years back – you need to go if you haven’t yet!
Blue Jackets, Crew, Clippers, or Wild Dogs?
Blue Jackets! (But I’d love a Crew game too!)
What is your favorite relaxing activity?
So many things now that I think about it! To sum it up: live music, the outdoors, stargazing, art & writing, and more recently, just coffee in the mornings with my dog snoring at my feet.
What are you currently reading?
What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia by Elizabeth Catte – being from Appalachia Ohio, this book has been such an important and special read.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
Oh, there are so many, I think it changes every day. The one that sticks out most is, “I can and I will,” which my mom gifted me on a necklace when I graduated college.
How do you take your coffee?
Since I started drinking coffee probably before I knew how to count, I’d drink it any which way, but I prefer with cream and sugar.
If you were a baseball player, what song would you walk out to?
Sabotage by The Beastie Boys, for sure.
What is your favorite restaurant in Columbus?
Being somewhat new to the area (and you know, the whole world-dominating virus thing going on), I haven’t gotten to venture as much as one would like. Out of the handful of restaurants I’ve been to, I’d have to say Aab India, that I went to with some friends, but I’m excited to try more when possible!
