MJ2 Marketing was approached by IAM Robotics in early 2019 to provide strategic marketing services to amplify their messaging across digital platforms. In addition to building general brand awareness through engagement on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, MJ2 also works with the IAM Robotics team to develop in-depth strategic content for their website that has established the brand as a thought leader in the robotics industry, and manages their SEO program to ensure they rank for those services and industry segments relevant to their offering.
The MJ2 team had the opportunity to travel to the IAM Robotics headquarters (at the time) – which was a small warehouse next to a rather loud train track – in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. Home of Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and a booming tech industry, Pittsburgh, known as “Roboburgh”, is one of only a handful of locations leading the country in developing cutting-edge robotics technology.
IAM Robotics is a leader in this technology boom happening throughout the city, and was recently named a Pittsburgh Tech Council Tech 50 Awards Finalist in the Innovator of the Year: AI/Robotics Category, as well as named to the Robotics Business Review’s 2019 RBR50 list of leading automation companies for the fourth year in a row.
During our visit to IAM Robotics, the MJ2 team had the chance to see Swift, the world’s first autonomous mobile manipulation robot, in action. With the ability to travel by itself into warehouse storage units, find inventory locations and identify objects, autonomously pick items, and transport them to fulfillment stations, Swift is transforming the e-commerce fulfillment industry.
IAM Robotics was founded in 2012, by Tom Galluzzo and Vladimir Altman while they were a part of Carnegie Mellon University’s National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC), and went to market with Swift in 2017. At that time they raised $20 million dollars from KCK Ltd., a family investment fund based out of New York City, to accelerate the introduction of a robotic labor system, and they have continued to grow since then.
2020 promises to be an exciting year for IAM Robotics, as they have begun to actively place Swift in the U.S. and global marketplace, and have now announced a move into a new Showcase Innovation Center. As 2020 comes into full swing, MJ2 is looking forward to assisting IAM Robotics in continuing to find and grow their niche on the digital platforms.
