In recent weeks, Pinterest has been gaining momentum in the social world as a way to connect through pictures and interests. If you haven’t been on the website, the address is pinterest.com and it does require an invite. Of course, the MJ2 team all have “pinteresting” accounts of our own. Need access? Give us a shout!
Just what is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. It allows you to organize and share all the beautiful, interesting things you find on the web. You can peruse pinboards created by other “pinners” to learn new things and get inspiration to share with your followers.
Pinterest is growing like by leaps and bounds. This month, Pinterest, has grown to almost 4.5 million users and cracked the Top 10 List of social networks and forums. Further, Pinterest has a clearly defined demographic, with 59% of visitors being women between the ages of 25 and 44. Can you say “mommy bloggers”?
How do I do “pin” something?
This link will give a quick “beginner’s guide” to get you started. But, be warned once you start pinning…you will have a hard time stopping!
Our initial assessment about Pinterest for businesses.
As with all social tools, it is important to apply the statistics, demographics, and adoption rate to your carefully defined target audience. Pinterest certainly is growing and gaining momentum in recent months. Given the visual stimulation of images, it will most likely continue to grow.
With food, mom and other bloggers, adopting and promoting so quickly and passionately, it will probably be around as a viable social tool for the near future. Of course, we will update you as we get watch, learn and listen.
