Between holiday parties and running around trying to find the “perfect” gift, it’s easy to get overwhelmed during the holidays. However, during this season of giving, it is important to remember those who are less fortunate.
At MJ2, we host our annual “Favorite Things Holiday Party” where each team member brings a gift of their favorite things to exchange with a co-worker. This year, in addition to our exchange, we each brought items to donate to the Heinzerling Foundation. The Heinzerling Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives and development of individuals with severe and profound developmental disabilities.
Other charities that we actively support have seen record numbers this year.
The Spielman Fund over the years has been a strong voice in the fight against breast cancer. This year, they just raised a milestone of 20 million dollars. Megan was blessed to be Stefanie’s roommate in college, and watched her battle breast cancer with dignity and pride, all the while sharing her story with the world. For Anne Harkin, The Snow Foundation is near and dear to her heart. This foundation is a voice for rare disease, working towards a cure for Wolfram Syndrome and developing novel therapies for diabetes, vision loss, hearing loss and neurodegeneration. Anne helped start this foundation in 2010 when her friend’s daughter was diagnosed with this rare disease, and they reached a milestone of having raised 1 million dollars.

Remember, giving back can be one of the most rewarding experiences. Whether it be baking an extra batch of cookies to take to the homeless shelter or taking a break from online shopping to donate what you can, every little bit makes a difference. As Anne Frank said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.”
